This morning, SBHS students in grades 9–12 had the opportunity to explore the many possibilities within healthcare at our Health Sciences Career Showcase. Students connected directly with professionals working in radiology, dermatology, respiratory therapy, psychiatric nursing, labor and delivery nursing, physical therapy, integrative medicine, and emergency medicine.
Through conversations and thoughtful questions, students learned more about what these careers look like, the education and training required, and the many different pathways into the healthcare field. A great reminder that careers in health sciences extend well beyond the traditional roles of doctors and nurses!
A huge thank you to our community partners who generously shared their time, experiences, and expertise with our students, and to Nikki for helping bring these opportunities to SBHS.

What a beautiful night for Seawolves football and a great way to kick off Homecoming Weekend at SBHS!
Tonight, we welcomed the Class of 2039, our South Burlington kindergarteners, onto Munson Field. It was pretty special to see some of our youngest students out under the lights alongside our high school community.
We also pause tonight to honor the memory of Marine Corporal Mark A. Evnin, an SBHS graduate and former youth football player who was killed in action during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. We are proud to remember his service and sacrifice as part of tonight’s game.

This past Tuesday morning, 209 SBHS students headed to the Workforce in Motion career exploration event to get a firsthand look at what their futures could hold!
Students had the opportunity to explore a wide range of careers, including heavy equipment operation, public safety, ski area management, aviation, health sciences, and much more. They also connected with representatives from educational programs and training pathways that can help them turn those interests into future careers.
It was especially great to see our entire sophomore class, along with other SBHS students, asking thoughtful questions, engaging with professionals, and jumping into hands-on activities. As always, they were outstanding ambassadors for SBHS.

From robotics and mountain biking to the arts, student leadership, affinity groups, service opportunities, and much more, there are so many ways for students to find their people, try something new, and get involved in our school community.

Last Friday, the Class of 2027 gathered bright and early for one of the first traditions of their senior year: Senior Sunrise!

A warm South Burlington welcome to our TIE Spanish exchange students from Colegio Montessori in Salamanca, Spain!
Our students and host families gathered at SBHS over the weekend to welcome their Spanish partners and kick off what promises to be a memorable few weeks together. The students will live with SBHS families, attend classes alongside their hosts, and experience life here in Vermont. That immersive experience is at the heart of TIE, with students becoming part of one another’s families, schools, and communities.
This visit is especially meaningful as we celebrate 20 years of the exchange between South Burlington High School and Colegio Montessori, a partnership that began in 2006.
We’re excited for the adventures, friendships, and memories ahead, and even more excited that our SBHS students will get to return the experience when they travel to Salamanca later this school year.

Construction update!
The construction work in the parking lot between the high school and middle school is now complete. Thank you to our students, families, staff, and community for your patience and flexibility as we navigated this project.
While we have more parking available, riding the bus, carpooling, walking, and biking to school are still encouraged whenever possible!
Staff and faculty should continue to park across the road at 577 Dorset or behind the high school. As you can see in the photo, work is still underway on the North Lot behind the middle school. We’re hoping that project will be completed within the next two weeks.
Once the North Lot is finished, we’ll begin having conversations with 10th grade students about parking on campus.

Student photos will be taken Tuesday, September 1 and Wednesday, September 2. Students should check the schedule to see when their class is scheduled for photos.
All students, including seniors, must have their photo taken, even if they do not plan to purchase a picture package. Photos are used for student IDs and library cards.

Due to a delay in our stormwater mitigation project and the resurfacing of the North Lot, we will have minimal parking available as we begin the school year.
At this time, 10th grade students are not permitted to park on campus. 11th and 12th grade students are asked to drive to school only when necessary. Carpooling and riding the school bus are strongly encouraged. Staff and faculty should park behind the high school or at 577 Dorset.
Our hope is that both projects will be completed shortly after Labor Day, which will allow us to return to more typical parking availability. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate everyone's flexibility and patience as this work is completed.
