Tasks
To meet the world language standards for survival skill
proficiency, students must accomplish the following situational tasks
at a predetermined level of proficiency (see World Language
Standards).

- Respond to and report an
emergency
- Ask questions about homes and use of
its facilities
- Purchase clothing

accommodation
- Ask for / give directions to a
specific destination
- Describe personal appearance
- Identify cultural celebrations
- Plan a leisure-time activity
- React to a telephone message
- Discuss injury or illness
- Describe and ask questions about
family
- Deal with customs and immigration
- Meeting someone
- Purchase food from the market
- Order a meal in a restaurant
- Ask to use telephone and bathroom
- Deal with classroom
