Today the South Burlington and French students visited the Dordogne valley. We specifically visited Castlenaud. The inhabitants had to walk up a hill paved in uneven cobblestones. Upon arriving, most of the students had to duck to climb up the steep, tiny castle stairs. The spiral staircases were dark and damp. The hassle of the stairs was soon forgotten at the top. The view was taken straight out of a fairy tale. A valley of farm land was held in check by vast mountains. Below the castle, the sun sparkled on the river foretelling the beautiful weather to come. In the heart of the castle students yelled down the well to hear the echo, while others at the base of the castle climbed a rocky ledge for pictures. Down the road from the castle we ate lunch in a park by the river. After the much needed food, we went to Sarlat to go shopping. Many of the stores were still closed for lunch, when the bus dropped us off. A lot of people waited on the square steps and took pictures. We returned to the bus at 4 PM to go back to Perigueux. Many of the students were exhausted and fell asleep on the bus.

All of the students listening while a woman described the French government.

A photo of the administrators at the Conseil General's--we were officially welcomed there.
