Allison Lesage and Cami Michaud

Today was a beautiful sunny day!! The morning was devoted to doing projects for French classes and catching up on homework. After lunch we took a two hour bus ride to Oradour. There we visited the center for the memory of the martyr village. This village was destroyed on June 10, 1944, along with all of its inhabitants by the German army in WWII. There were only 6 survivors. The memorial center showed us the events leading up this tragic day. This allowed us to gain a better understanding of how devastating this event was. The center's purpose was to give people a place to reflect on these past events. Usually we would have been able to walk through the town of Oradour, but due to the storm it was inaccessible. It was a very sad afternoon, but a wonderful learning experience. On the bus ride home everyone slept...a reoccurring theme. Our students met us at school and everyone went their separate ways.

Tuesday, 3/7

Michelle Weissman and Laura Whitney

This morning students presented their projects to classes. After Ariel and I (Michelle) finished presenting, we went downtown to meet Laura and Michelle V. for lunch. In order to find each other quickly, we used walkie talkies that I had brought and came together at one corner of the square.

By that time, we were all hungry so we stopped in a bakery to buy a snack that would tie us over until lunch. We ate lunch at a small cafe and we ordered variations of a ham sandwich with cheese. We sat outside and caught some rays, it was almost 700.

Everyone met back at school at 2 PM to start our scavenger hunt around Perigueux. We were organized in teams according to the rooms we had in Paris. So, we were with Michelle V. and Alison. We got everything that we needed and headed out. The scavenger hunt led us on a wild hunt, but we were the first group back and the one that ended up winning. Very exciting!
