Overview
Grade 9 students will take World History or the two credit, team-taught. interdisciplinary course (World Studies). Students in Grade 10 will take United States History since 1667 or American Studies. Upon completion of both of the above courses, a student will be eligible to take any of the elective courses available in grades 11 and 12. Students must take PIWA during the senior year. Students must pass a total of three credits in the Social Studies including either one half credit in an elective or in an approved cross-credit course.

Nightly homework assignments are a basic expectation of all courses in the Social Studies program. Students will receive both written assignments and reading assignments during the course of the year. The value of these assignments in relation to the final grade will be stated in the statement of expectations of students that each teacher will hand to students on the first day of classes.
