Rubric (Scoring) Information:

Scale Information

  • Need to know all 12 Major scales (only two will be chosen).  They are to be played articulated and from memory.

  • Chromatic scale, played from memory, in triplets at a minimum metronome setting of MM=88.

  • All Scales must be played in full octaves in the ranges indicated below

  • Flute:  C4 to C7 and a C 3 octave chromatic

  • Oboe/English Horn:  Bb3 to D6 and a C two octave chromatic

  • Bb Clarinet:  E3 to G6 and a G three octave chromatic

  • Eb or Low Clarinets:  E3 to C6 and a F two octave chromatic

  • Alto, Tenor, Bari Sax:  Bb3 to F5 and a C two octave chromatic

  • Trumpet/Cornet:  F#3 to C6 and a C two octave chromatic

  • French Horn: F#3 to A5 and a G two octave chromatic

  • Trombone/Baritone:  E2 to Bb4 and a Bb two octave chromatic

  • BBb Tuba:  E1 to Bb3 and a F two octave chromatic

  • Violin:  G3 to A6 and a G three octave chromatic

  • Viola:  C3 to D6 and a C three octave chromatic

  • Cello:  C2 to D5 and a C three octave chromatic

  • Bass:  E2 to E4 and a E two octave chromatic

 

Percussion Information

The four rudiments that are considered part of the Snare Drum audition will be performed open to  closed to open (being played smoothly and continuously from a very slow tempo to a very fast tempo and then back to the original slow tempo).

The four rudiments to be performed will be chosen by the adjudicators from the following list:

  • 5 Stroke Roll

  • 7 Stroke Roll

  • 9 Stroke Roll

  • Single Paradiddle

  • Double Paradiddle

  • Flam Accent

  • Flamacue

  • Flam Paradiddle-diddle

  • Single Drag-Tap 

  • Triple Ratamacue
