What is the SBSF?

Public schools across the country have long been aware that school budgets don't always cover their wants or even their needs. Language programs, arts and music, athletics, and services are often on the chopping block when budgets don't pass. Where can schools access funding to pay for the things that separate a good school from a great school?

The answer is in non-profit foundations, and the South Burlington School District is one of the first in Vermont to create a 501(c)(3) foundation to support the district when the operating budget cannot. Much like colleges, universities, and private institutions, the SBSF is there to raise private donations to finance programs and projects above and beyond what taxpayer dollars can support.

The South Burlington Schools' Foundation is made up of a group of committed alumni, parents, retired teachers, and community members that all have one thing in common: they want our children to have access to the best education.

The SBSF is currently raising funds for three important (restricted) campaigns:
1) the Scholarship Fund to reward worthy seniors with money for college;
2) the Comolli Technology Fund in honor of long-time technology teacher Tim Comolli;
3) the Fields and Dreams campaign to give the South Burlington community a first-rate athletic complex. This includes the "Grab-a-Seat!", "Coach Jordan Challenge," and "Del Romagnoli Fund" campaigns.

The South Burlington Schools' Foundation is committed to the SBHS motto of "Building a Proud Tradition" and the best way to achieve this is to support the foundation's initiatives. Our donors have been there from the beginning, we ask that you consider joining them.
